Knox Media Hub Powers Play Media’s Media Supply Chain Transformation

New customer story details how the Flemish broadcaster consolidated four systems into one scalable media supply chain, cut OTT publishing time to 10–15 minutes, automated content cataloguing from more than 100 providers and enabled self-service access for approximately 200 users.

September 2026

Knox Media Hub, the cloud-native media asset management and workflow automation platform, has published an inside look at how Play Media has redesigned its media supply chain to serve increasingly fragmented audiences across linear television, OTT, social platforms and emerging formats such as microdramas.

Play Media, which operates five channels — Play, Play Fictie, Play Actie, Play Reality and Play Crime — alongside a comprehensive OTT platform, had outgrown its previous multi-system environment. It has now consolidated four separate systems into a single cloud-based operational platform spanning content ingest, management, workflow orchestration and internal access.

"For us, this project was never about replacing a few legacy systems. It was an opportunity to redesign our entire media supply chain from the ground up," said Bart Vanmeerbeeck, Broadcast Technology Manager at Play Media. "We wanted an operational architecture that could support the way Play Media will create, manage and distribute content for years to come — not just solve today's challenges. Knox Media Hub shared that ambition from day one and provided both the platform and the expertise to help us build that foundation."

Rather than replace every piece of technology, Play Media adopted Knox Media Hub as the orchestration layer connecting its preferred technologies and service providers for rights and content data management, scheduling and programming, OTT publishing, and AI-powered tagging.

The transformational project, starting in mid-2025, has delivered measurable results: four systems have been replaced by one cloud media backbone, content from more than 100 providers is now catalogued automatically, and OTT publishing time has fallen from approximately 45 minutes to 10–15 minutes. Approximately 200 users across departments now access tailored Portals to search, preview, clip and share content directly, without waiting for operational teams or moving assets to a separate system.
